Division concept

Division means splitting into equal parts or groups. It’s a result of fair sharing. For example if there are 20 mangoes to be shared among four, each gets five. The symbol used in division is

( ÷). The terms used are dividend, divisor and quotient.

Dividend divide by the divisor­ =quotient

In cases where it doesn’t divide completely, there is always a remainder. For example two boys are to share nine mangoes, each will receive four mangoes but there will be one left over. This one remaining mango is the remainder
